Session 9

The ghostly figures circled the party, their ephemeral bodies shifting in and out of the fogging surroundings. Grak, Althea, and Finn, sprung into a counter attack, swinging blades and loosing arrows, but it was apparent that martial weapons would not be of use here. Buckwheat was careful, and observed the specters actively avoiding the beams of light that broke from the clouds. She focused her strength and cast Moonbeam, summoning a burst of light that swallowed the specters and cast them out.

However, whether they be immortal, or simply great in number, more specters appeared to replace them, and the attack continued. Grak and Finnean took painful blows that left them feeling drained. Althea took note of Buckwheat’s strategy and turned her arrows into radiant bolts, destroying more than her fair share of foes. As the fighting wore on, words rattled from the specters, “Honor, Rest, Return”. The team then noticed the banners laying in the mud around them, and rushed top set them, right again. As they did, the specters slowly bowed, then vanished, revealing the rusting armaments spread across the field were now piles of coin.

Further along the river’s side, they found a hill with a peculiar object jutting from its top. It was a copper bell, oxidized into a blue green stone. Grak smacked the bell with his axe, summoning three ghostly figures, not unlike the specters recently defeated. They stood motionless, and so Grak rang the bell again. A figure moved forward, nodded, and disappeared. The same thing occurred two more times, leaving the troupe alone with the bell. They decided to move on, but took note of this location should they learn of a way to speak to these figures.
