The Story So Far
Here is the account of three travelers exporing Méidambiue, as told by one who witnessed it.
Session 1
Althea the elven ranger, Grak the orc Barbarian, and Buckwheat the halfling druid traveled together into an ancient forest, far beyond the comfortable border of normal society. Passing through the forest, they soon found themselves on the heathy plains of a massive lake. They met Jerimiah Quiller, a map maker and frog who directed them to the nearby village known as “the heap” to search for answers about where they were. They found the Heap to be full of mice and toads, and at the local inn The Muddled Stag, they ate, and learned about the relationships of the local creatures. Noises outside stirred them into action, as the town was attacked by giant insects, some of them the very beetles ranched by the locals. After defeating the bugs, Althea noticed a hooded figure slipping away into the dark, before the local knights, the Bufiagal, arrived on scene to bring peace, and order the travelers to the castle for questioning. As they had just saved the town from an attack, they were allowed to go at their own pace, and agreed to set out in the morning.
Session 2
After a good nights rest, the party woke feeling stronger than before, perhaps due to the exceptional coziness of mouse architecture. They ate breakfast and made a plan, to travel north to the stump castle, Dara Saol, to seek audience with it’s lord Bas Cadoc. There they learned of his struggles to keep the heap safe as he had promised in exchange for the mice wood workers help turning the great oak stump into a fortress, due to the increased frequency of insect attacks that seem to be coming from the northwest, either from the warrens or tanglethorne forest. Cadoc expressed his paranoia that the mice and some of the heap toads were going to turn on him, and hoped you could help gather intel on the situation. You also learned his advisor Gostibur, a rat wizard of sorts, was overdue back at the castle. The most pressing matter, however, was the recent attack on the heap, in which you confirmed buffalo beetles were involved. Cadoc explained this should not be possible, that a great toad ancestral hero Ronan had tamed the beetles when he first arrived on the land, and had done so with a magic power that made him an insect lord. He asked you to investigate Ronan’s Rest, the last dwelling place of the legendary hero, in exchange for access to his court wizard, some equipment, and help escaping. And so you set out to find the rest, starting at the standing stones, which pointed the direction to Ronan’s rest, with a little help from an ambitious little toad named Finnean. You opened a puzzle door, and braved a tomb filled with traps to find the crypt, and a strange hooded figure tampering with the hero’s body. The figure fled, and a battle ensued between the party and a giant earth worm. They were victorious, and they quickly entered the crypt to inspect the situation.
